Best known as home to the Cathedral of the Peak, it has a thriving range of local shops and amenities including a selection of good, local, pet friendly food serving pubs. Perfectly suited to lovers of the great outdoors, a selection of walking trails are available to take you in and around the village and local area, and there is fishing and golf nearby. The traffic free Monsal Trail, which runs from Bakewell to Buxton, can be reached through Tideswell Dale (cycle hire is available a 10-minute drive away), and both the Pennine Way and Limestone Way are nearby. The spa town of Buxton and market town of Bakewell are both around a 15-minute drive, as are a selection of other Peak District towns and villages such as Eyam, Castleton and Hathersage. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall can be reached in under half an hour, and Ashbourne and Alton Towers in under an hour. Shop 350 yards, pub and restaurant 175 yards.
